Believe: The First Step Toward Becoming Who You Were Meant to Be
Share
There is tremendous power in what we choose to believe.
Before we ever take the first step toward a dream, before we make the difficult decision to change, before we rise from something that tried to break us, there is often something happening quietly inside us.
We are deciding what is possible.
We are deciding who we are.
We are deciding what we believe.
And sometimes, that single word-believe-can become the beginning of an entirely different life.
What We Believe Shapes How We See Ourselves
Our beliefs become a kind of lens through which we experience the world.
When we believe that we are incapable, every obstacle can look like proof that we should quit.
When we believe that we are unworthy, we may accept relationships, circumstances, and treatment that are far beneath what we deserve.
When we believe that our past determines our future, we can become prisoners of things that happened long ago.
But when we begin to believe differently, something changes.
The circumstances may not change overnight.
The problems may still be there.
The road may still be difficult.
But we begin to see ourselves differently.
And sometimes, changing the way we see ourselves is the first step toward changing the way we live.
Your Mind Can Become Your Greatest Ally
There is a great deal of power in our thoughts.
We can spend our energy rehearsing everything that could go wrong, repeating every mistake we've made, and convincing ourself that we aren't capable of becoming more.
Or we can begin teaching our minds a different story.
Not a false story,
Not pretending that everything is perfect.
But a story rooted in possibility.
Instead of saying:
"I can't."
We can begin asking:
"What if I can?"
Instead of:
"This is just who I am."
We can ask:
"Who am I becoming?"
Instead of:
"I've failed too many times."
We can remind ourselves:
"I've survived every difficult day that brought me here."
That shift may seem small.
It isn't.
Belief Doesn't Mean the Road Will Be Easy
Believing in yourself doesn't mean you will never struggle.
It doesn't mean you won't experience disappointment, rejection, fear, loss or uncertainty.
It means you refuse to allow those things to become the final definition of your life.
There will be days when confidence disappears.
There will be moments when your dr4eams feel too far away.
There will be people who don't understand what you are trying to build.
There may even be moments when you question yourself.
Believe anyway.
Because belief isn't always a feeling.
Sometime belief is a decision.
It is choosing to keep moving when you don't have all the answers.
It is choosing to try again.
It is choosing to become intentional about the thoughts you allow to take root inside you.
Be Careful What You Teach Yourself
We often don't realize how frequently we speak against ourselves.
I'm not good enough.
I'll never get ahead.
I'm too far behind.
People like me don't get opportunities like that.
I always mess things up.
After hearing those words enough times, we can begin treating them as facts.
But they are not necessarily facts.
They are beliefs.
And beliefs can be challenged.
They can be examined.
They can be replaced.
You don't have to continue carrying an old belief simply because you have carried it for years.
Maybe the belief you need today is simply:
I am allowed to begin again.
Maybe it is:
I am capable of more than I have allowed myself to imagine.
Maybe it is:
My past is part of my story, but it does not have to write my ending.
Believe in the Person You Are Becoming
There is something beautiful about intentionally choosing the direction of your life.
You may not be able to control everything that happens around you.
But you can begin becoming more intentional about what you choose to believe, what you choose to pursue, and what you choose to give your energy to.
Your life does not have to remain defined by limitation.
You can dream again.
You can build again.
You can love again.
You can trust again.
You can begin again.
And sometimes the first thing you have to rebuild isn't your circumstances.
It's your belief in yourself.
The Phoenix Knows Something About Beginning Again
At Phoenix Eve Candle, we believe there is something powerful about the idea of rising.
The phoenix doesn't rise because the ashes were never there.
The phoenix rises because they were.
The scars don't disappear.
The history doesn't disappear.
But the story continues.
That is what believing can do.
It gives us permission to look beyond what has already happened and consider what could still happen.
It reminds us that we are not finished.
And maybe that's the message someone needs to hear today:
You are not finished.
Your hardest chapter does not mean that your story is over.
Your mistakes do not eliminate your potential.
Your setbacks do not cancel your dreams
Your circumstances do not get the final word.
Sometime, you simply have to believe long enough to take the next step.
Then another.
Then another.
Until one day you look back and realize that the person who once wondered if she could make it....
did.
Believe
Believe in the possibility.
Believe in the process.
Believe that growth can come from difficult seasons.
Believe that you can learn.
Believe that you can change.
Believe that you can rise.
And most importantly, believe that the person you are becoming is worth fighting for.
Because every transformation begins somewhere.
Sometimes it begins with a dream.
Sometimes it begins with courage.
And sometime...
it begins with one quiet decision to believe.
Kindled by Courage
